a) I had Yokohama A520's(two sets, 50K+/- miles) and could take the corner by my apartments at 35mph++ easily, with no loss of directional control. b) I put on Kumho's and can only take the corner at 25mph. Any faster and the front end "pushes" through the corner. The tires will physically NOT grip over 25mph around this corner. I am talking about going into the corner progressively, NOT just yanking the wheel in a sudden motion. c) I can drive my Wrangler with a lift kit, 31" tires that are 5 years old and have age cracks all over them and 30K+ miles on them around the same corner signifigantly FASTER(read as: over 25mph) WITHOUT the vehcile sliding.
Seeing as I have repeatable, physical trials showing that the Kumho tires do not allow me to corner at over 25mph, in the EXACT same conditions that a tire that costs only $14 more per tire(A520's), I think I can say that Kumho's do not grip well. Add to that the fact that I can take the SAME corner in a lifted, short-wheelbase vehicle with tall tires and I don't see how you can argue that Kumho's are even "decent" tires. You stick with poor-performing, low-traction tires if you wish, but I will never again risk my safety by buying such junk.
